Who should attend?

This course is designed for ESL teachers who want to improve their ability to teach essay writing to their students. It is also suitable for teachers who are new to teaching writing or who want to refresh their skills and knowledge in this area.

Course Description: This 12-week course is designed to help ESL teachers improve their ability to teach essay writing to their students. The course will cover the essential elements of essay writing, including brainstorming, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. The course will also include strategies for teaching essay structure, style and organization, and techniques for providing students with effective feedback. Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities, participants will develop the skills and knowledge necessary to be effective essay-writing tutors for their ESL students. A certificate will be provided to educators who successfully complete the program.

Course Requirements:

  • Attendance and active participation in class discussions and activities
  • Completion of weekly writing assignments and essay drafts
  • Active engagement in peer-review sessions with a focus on essay writing
  • Completion of a final essay writing project for assessment

  • Class participation and engagement: 20%
  • Weekly writing assignments and essay drafts: 40%
  • Peer-review sessions focused on essay writing: 20%
  • Final essay writing project and rubric assessment: 20%
